🔧 Product Description
This genuine Volvo Penta retainer is a replaceable locating, spacing or bearing-support component used in the cable, fuse or inlet/aftercooler retention. It is manufactured to the original Volvo Penta dimensions and interface requirements so the supported component retains the specified clearance, spacing and location. In service, it retains the matched cable, fuse holder or support component in its intended position. Fitment is controlled by the exact engine or product configuration and serialised parts list; confirm OEM number 1578046 against the installed assembly before ordering.

🔌 Function
Retains the matched cable, fuse holder or support component in its intended position. Measure the pin, bore, bush or locating surfaces and replace worn companion parts so the new component is not installed into an out-of-tolerance assembly.
⚠️ Common Signs of Failure
- Cracked or broken retainer body allowing the cable to come free
- Loose or sagging wiring harness sections near the mounting point
- Chafed or worn cable insulation caused by unsupported movement
- Intermittent electrical faults from strained or vibrating connections
- Corrosion or brittleness from age, heat and salt exposure
🛠️ Service Notes
- Fit the retainer clean and dry unless the manual calls for lubricant, and make sure it is fully home in its groove or against its seat before the assembly is loaded
- Renew rather than reuse a retainer that has been removed — once a spring clip or ring has been spread it loses tension and can release in service
- Use the correct pliers or fitting tool; opening a retainer further than it needs to go, or prising it with a screwdriver, distorts it permanently
- Check the groove or landing face for wear, burrs and scoring, and dress or renew the mating part if the retainer will no longer seat squarely
- Where the retainer holds a rotating or spring-loaded part, confirm by hand that the assembly is captive and has the free movement the manual specifies before closing up
