An elbow nipple provides a threaded angled junction that lets a fuel or fluid line change direction at a component port without kinking or straining the hose. It maintains a sealed connection between the line and the component it feeds.

• Aim the elbow so the hose or pipe leaves it in a natural line, and hold that alignment while tightening; twisting the hose round afterwards to correct the angle loads the joint
• Do not over-tighten to cure a weep, particularly into aluminium or cast housings — strip the joint, find out why it leaked and reseal it properly
• Support the hose or pipe so it is not left hanging on the fitting and passing its vibration into the joint
