🔧 Product Description
Genuine Volvo heavy-duty brake-drum dust protecting plate supplied under a Volvo part number also visible through the broader Volvo parts network. This is a chassis and brake component rather than an engine heat shield. It protects the rear brake and wheel-bearing area from stones, dirt and spray.
⚙️ Key Features
- Rear brake-drum and wheel-bearing dust cover
- Approximate outside diameter 445-446 mm
- Approximate inside diameter 233.5-234 mm
- Approximate height 66 mm
- Extensive confirmed heavy-duty aftermarket interchange coverage
🔌 Function
Shields the brake drum, brake hardware and wheel-bearing area from road debris and water spray.
⚠️ Common Signs of Failure
- Bent plate contacting the brake drum
- Severe corrosion or perforation
- Missing sections allowing debris into the brake assembly
- Rattling from loose mounting points
- Cracks around the fixing holes
🛠️ Service Notes
- This is a brake-drum and wheel-bearing dust shield, not an engine or alternator guard like other parts catalogued under this type — confirm the application before ordering
- Fits the Volvo heavy-truck range - FH, FH12, FH16, FL6, FL7, FL10, FL12, FM, FM7, FM9, FM10, FM12 and NH12 - rather than a Volvo Penta marine or industrial engine, so confirm the truck model before ordering
- At approximately 445-446 mm OD and 233.5-234 mm ID, measure the drum and hub before fitting
- Inspect the brake and bearing area for damage before refitting a new plate, since a plate that let in stones or spray usually means something behind it has already been struck
