This genuine Volvo Penta hub is a machined fan-drive hub used in the radiator, expansion-tank and fan hub position. It is manufactured to the original Volvo dimensional, material and interface requirements so the serviced assembly retains its designed alignment, sealing, load capacity and operating reliability. In service, it centres and supports the rotating fan connection in the TD1030VE cooling assembly. Selection must be confirmed by OEM part number 1664828, the exact engine/product model, serial number and the installed assembly configuration.

🔌 Function
The hub carries and centres a driven cooling-system component, transmitting rotational drive from the belt or drive gear to it. Correct hub condition keeps the driven component running concentrically and in line with its drive belt.
⚠️ Common Signs of Failure
- Rumbling, growling or squealing noise from the hub bearing while the engine is running
- Visible wobble or excessive play when the hub is turned by hand
- Repeated belt wear, fraying or throw-off caused by hub misalignment
- Corrosion, scoring or cracking on the hub body or mounting flange
- Coolant seepage or staining around the hub area indicating a failed seal behind it
🛠️ Service Notes
- Get the hub off with the correct puller rather than levering or hammering it; a hub driven off or on is enough to damage the shaft, the bearing behind it and the hub itself
- Clean and inspect the shaft, keyway or taper and check for scoring, wear steps and fretting; a hub will not run true on a damaged seat and the fault will come straight back
- Inspect and renew the seal that runs on or behind the hub while access is good, and check the sealing surface for a wear groove
- Draw the hub on square, fully home to the position the workshop manual for your engine gives, and tighten the retaining fastener to the manual figure with any specified locking method
- Check the drive belt alignment and run-out after fitting, then run the engine and watch for wobble, noise or a belt tracking off to one side
