🔧 Product Description

This genuine Volvo Penta companion flange is a machined power-transmission flange used in the power take-off companion flange. It is manufactured to the original Volvo dimensional, material and interface requirements so the serviced assembly retains its designed alignment, sealing, load capacity and operating reliability. In service, it provides the bolted or splined interface between the engine/PTO shaft and the driven auxiliary equipment. Selection must be confirmed by OEM part number 1667973, the exact engine/product model, serial number and the installed assembly configuration.

⚙️ Key Features

  • OEM Volvo Penta part number 1667973
  • Built to ISO 7647 standard, size 1410
  • System group: Power Take-Off
  • Net weight approximately 1.0 kg
  • Fits TAD-series industrial and marine-industrial diesel engines

🔌 Function

The companion flange bolts to the engine's power take-off output and forms the mating half of a flanged driveline joint. It transmits engine torque to the connected shaft, coupling or universal joint while keeping the driveline concentric and correctly aligned.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

  • Driveline vibration or a rumble that changes with engine load or speed
  • Worn, elongated or damaged flange bolt holes causing joint play
  • Loose, stretched or repeatedly loosening flange bolts
  • Visible cracking, corrosion or scoring on the flange face
  • Runout or misalignment measured at the flange during driveline checks

🛠️ Service Notes

  • Clean the taper, key and keyway dry before assembly and check them for burrs, wear and hammer marks; the flange must pull up on the taper, not on the key
  • Check the flange face for scoring, corrosion and runout, and the coupling bolt holes for elongation — a distorted flange shows up as vibration under way
  • Where a shaft seal runs on the flange, check that running surface is smooth and unworn, because a scored surface will destroy a new seal
  • Fit a new locking nut, tab washer or split pin as originally used, and tighten to the figure given in the workshop manual for your installation
  • Check shaft alignment and face contact across the coupling after fitting, and re-check the fasteners after the first period of running
