🔧 Product Description
This genuine Volvo Penta stud is a structural mounting or fastening component used in the legacy Volvo Penta engine or transmission fastening point. It is manufactured to the original Volvo dimensional, material and interface requirements so the serviced assembly retains its designed alignment, sealing, load capacity and operating reliability. In service, it provides a fixed threaded mounting point for the matched housing, cover or ancillary component. Selection must be confirmed by OEM part number 17371, the exact engine/product model, serial number and installed configuration.
🚤 Compatibility
Typically suits:
- Volvo Penta 740B
- Volvo Penta 740A
- Volvo Penta BB740A

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure
- Stud unscrewing with the nut on removal
- Stripped, galled or damaged threads at either end
- Corrosion or seizing making nut removal difficult
- Stretched, necked or bent stud after over-torquing
- Joint losing clamping load or leaking
🛠️ Service Notes
- Clean and chase the female thread before fitting so the stud can pull down square and to full depth
- Screw studs in with a proper stud installer or the double-nut method; gripping the plain shank with pliers or self-grips scores it and the nut will never seat or torque correctly afterwards
- Screw the stud home until it seats as the manual for your engine describes, and no further — a stud wound in hard to cure a slack thread will simply split the casting
- Renew studs that are stretched, necked, bent or corroded rather than reusing them; exhaust and manifold studs in particular are cheap next to the work of extracting a broken one
- Tighten the nuts to the torque figures and in the sequence given in the workshop manual for your engine, and where a stud passes into an oil or coolant space seal it as the manual specifies
