🔧 Product Description
This genuine Volvo Penta ball bearing is a precision rolling-element or raceway component used in the DPH/DPR sterndrive gearcase bearing position. It is manufactured to the original Volvo dimensional, material and interface requirements so the serviced assembly retains its designed alignment, sealing, load capacity and operating reliability. In service, it supports the specified gearcase shaft under combined propeller, gear-mesh and thrust loading. Selection must be confirmed by OEM part number 181804, the exact engine/product model, serial number and installed configuration.

⚙️ Key Features
- OEM Volvo Penta part number 181804
- Net weight 0.610 kg - heavier-section ball bearing
- Listed for 16 specific applications
- Fits DPH sterndrives and D series marine diesel engines
🔌 Function
Supports the specified gearcase shaft under combined propeller, gear-mesh and thrust loading. Measure shaft and housing fits, renew contaminated lubricant and related seals, and install using force only through the race being fitted. Set preload or end float to the applicable Volvo Penta specification.
⚠️ Common Signs of Failure
- Deep rumbling or growling from the drive unit
- Play or run-out at the shaft
- Rough rotation or drag when turned by hand
- Heat discolouration of the races
- Metal debris in the drive oil
🛠️ Service Notes
- Work clean — leave the bearing in its wrapping until the moment it goes in, and do not wash the preservative out or blow it dry with compressed air
- Apply the fitting force only to the ring being fitted, through a tube or drift that bears on that ring alone; force pushed through the balls from one ring to the other dents the raceways and the bearing will be noisy and short-lived from the first run
- Where the fit calls for it, expand the inner ring with even, controlled heat rather than driving it on, and never heat a bearing with a flame or beyond the temperature given in the workshop manual for your engine
- Check the shaft and housing seats before fitting — scoring, burrs, corrosion or a worn seat will ruin a new bearing, and fretting marks mean the seat itself needs attention
- Fit the bearing square and fully home against its shoulder, note which way round any sealed, shielded or marked face must go, and lubricate with the grease or oil specified for the application before it is turned under load
