🔌 Function

Supports the selected planet-gear member in the IPS planetary steering assembly. Measure shaft and housing fits, renew contaminated lubricant and related seals, and install using force only through the race being fitted. Set preload or end float to the applicable Volvo Penta specification.

🛠️ Service Notes

• Keep everything clean and work with clean dry hands and tools; needle bearings are intolerant of both grit and moisture
• Never press on the rollers or the cage — press only on the end face of the outer shell, using a drift or tube that matches its diameter so the load passes straight through
• Where the shell has a marked or lettered face, that face takes the drift; press the bearing in square and to the depth the manual gives
• Check the housing bore and the shaft or journal for wear, scoring and corrosion before fitting, because a new needle bearing on a worn shaft will not last
• Prime or pack the bearing with the specified lubricant before assembly and renew the adjacent seals so the new bearing stays clean
