Provides the hardened inner raceway for the matching lower-gear needle-bearing assembly. Measure shaft and housing fits, renew contaminated lubricant and related seals, and install using force only through the race being fitted. Set preload or end float to the applicable Volvo Penta specification.

• Where the ring is a heat fit, warm it evenly by the method the workshop manual for your engine describes rather than heating it locally with a flame
• Lubricate the bearing on assembly as the manual specifies, and set any shimming or preload the assembly calls for using the manual's own measuring procedure
