πŸ”§ Product Description

This genuine Volvo Penta roller bearing is a precision rolling-element bearing engineered for a high-load shaft or gear position used in the engine coolant-pump shaft support. It is manufactured to the original Volvo Penta dimensional, material and interface requirements so the serviced assembly retains its designed alignment, sealing, load capacity and operating reliability. In service, it carries pump-shaft radial load and maintains impeller alignment in the engine coolant pump. Selection must be confirmed by OEM part number 184828, the exact engine or product model, serial number and installed configuration.

  • Fits TWD, TD, TAMD and TAD series marine diesel engines

πŸ”Œ Function

Carries pump-shaft radial load and maintains impeller alignment in the engine coolant pump. Press the bearing only through the race receiving the installation load, maintain absolute cleanliness and set preload or end float to the Volvo Penta workshop specification.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

  • Rumbling or growling under load
  • Pitting, flaking or scoring of the raceways
  • Heat discolouration of rollers or races
  • Shaft play or vibration
  • Metal particles in the oil

πŸ› οΈ Service Notes

  • Keep the bearing in its wrapper until the moment of fitting and work with clean hands and clean tools β€” a roller bearing is ruined by grit long before it is ruined by use
  • Apply the fitting force only to the race being fitted, using a tube or drift that bears squarely on the whole ring face, so the load never passes through the rollers; never strike the bearing or press on the loose race
  • Warming the inner race evenly in oil or a purpose-made bearing heater lets an interference fit slide on without hammering β€” never heat a bearing with a flame, and stay within the temperature the manufacturer's instructions allow
  • Check the shaft and housing seats for wear, scoring and burrs first; a slack or damaged seat will destroy a new bearing quickly
  • Lubricate with the grade specified for that position, and where the bearing takes an adjustable preload or endfloat β€” tapered roller bearings especially β€” set it by the workshop manual procedure rather than by feel
