🔧 Product Description

This genuine Volvo Penta snap ring is a retaining ring manufactured to locate a bearing or shaft component in its machined groove used in the upper vertical-shaft bearing retention. It is manufactured to the original Volvo Penta dimensional, material and interface requirements so the serviced assembly retains its designed alignment, sealing, load capacity and operating reliability. In service, it retains the bearing or shaft component in its machined groove and prevents axial displacement. Selection must be confirmed by OEM part number 190356, the exact engine or product model, serial number and installed configuration.

🚤 Compatibility

Typically suits:

  • Volvo Penta DP-SM
  • Volvo Penta DP-SMTD
  • Volvo Penta DP-SMTD1
  • Volvo Penta DP-SMTD3
  • Volvo Penta SX-M
  • Volvo Penta SX-M1
  • Volvo Penta SX-MTD
  • Volvo Penta SX-MTD3
  • Engine Family: DP, SX

⚙️ Key Features

  • Genuine Volvo Penta OEM snap ring
  • OEM part number 190356
  • Use proper snap-ring pliers, confirm full seating around the groove and never reuse a ring that has been overstretched.

🔌 Function

Retains the bearing or shaft component in its machined groove and prevents axial displacement. Use proper snap-ring pliers, confirm full seating around the groove and never reuse a ring that has been overstretched.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

  • Ring movement, partial release or loss from the retaining groove
  • Cracking, distortion or loss of spring tension
  • Rounded or damaged groove edges
  • Excessive shaft or bearing end movement
  • Gear, bearing or seal damage following loss of axial retention

🛠️ Service Notes

  • Always fit a new snap ring rather than reusing the one you removed — a ring that has been sprung open once has lost tension
  • Use proper snap-ring pliers and open the ring no further than it needs to go; overstretching it, or levering it in with a screwdriver, leaves it slack in the groove
  • Clean the groove and check it for wear, burrs or spread before fitting, and make sure the ring snaps fully home right the way round — check it by eye, turning the assembly, not just by feel
  • Where the ring has a chamfered or dished face, fit it the right way up with the sharp edge against the load
  • Account for the old ring and any fragments; a piece of broken circlip left inside a gearcase or housing will do serious damage
