🔧 Product Description
This genuine Volvo Penta shim is a precision-thickness adjustment shim used to establish bearing preload, shaft end float or gear position used in the DPH/DPR lower-gear vertical-shaft clearance adjustment. It is manufactured to the original Volvo Penta dimensional, material and interface requirements so the serviced assembly retains its designed alignment, sealing, load capacity and operating reliability. Thickness: 0.15 mm. In service, it sets the specified shaft or gear-stack axial clearance in the lower gear. Selection must be confirmed by OEM part number 190836, the exact engine or product model, serial number and installed configuration.

🔌 Function
Sets the specified shaft or gear-stack axial clearance in the lower gear. Measure the assembly using the specified workshop procedure and select the required shim combination; do not substitute an unmeasured thickness.
⚠️ Common Signs of Failure
- Excessive shaft end float or incorrect bearing preload
- Gear whine, rumble or abnormal contact pattern
- Bearing overheating from insufficient clearance
- Impact loading, fretting or broken gear teeth from excessive clearance
- Distorted, scored or incorrectly stacked shims discovered during overhaul
🛠️ Service Notes
- Shims are supplied in graded thicknesses and exist to bring a setting into specification, so measure with a micrometer and select the thickness the setting procedure for your engine calls for rather than matching one by eye
- Note which shim came from which position on removal and keep them identified — once an assembly has bedded in, shims are not interchangeable between positions
- Check both faces are clean, flat and free of burrs, corrosion and old sealant before fitting; dirt trapped under a shim shifts the setting as surely as the wrong thickness does
- Discard any shim that is dished, cracked, pitted or fretted rather than reusing it, and make sure no old shim has been left behind in the recess
- Recheck the clearance or setting after the assembly is tightened down, because clamping load can change the measurement you took loose
