🔧 Product Description
Dunbier AL-KO iQ7 Electric-Over-Hydraulic Brake Actuator - Part Number: 1946
An Australian-designed power-assisted brake actuator for trailers fitted with hydraulic disc brakes. The iQ7 stores compressed air in an internal pressure chamber so hydraulic braking begins immediately when commanded by a compatible proportional brake controller, and includes breakaway functionality for trailers over 2000kg.
⚙️ Key Features
• Immediate brake response from stored compressed air
• Electric-over-hydraulic operation for trailer disc brakes
• Integrated breakaway system and switch
• Can be mounted internally or externally using the correct bracket
• Australian service-network support
• Compatible with approved motion-sensing/proportional brake controllers
📏 Specifications
• Maximum hydraulic pressure: Approximately 1000psi / 6.9MPa
• Fluid displacement: Approximately 21cc
• Published trailer application: Up to approximately 3 tonnes
• Brake type: Hydraulic disc
• Breakaway requirement: Designed to meet applicable ADR requirements for trailers over 2000kg
🔄 Cross Reference & Related Parts
• Dunbier: 1946
• Mounting brackets: Dunbier 1940IQ, 1940IQ-12 and 1940IQS
• Bleed gun assembly: Dunbier 1947
• Air dump valve/flap: Dunbier 1952
• Compatible controller examples include Redarc Tow-Pro Elite, Tekonsha P2/P3/Primus IQ, Hayes Energiser III and approved Elecbrakes controllers
🚤 Trailer Compatibility & Application
• Suits caravans and boat trailers with compatible hydraulic disc brakes
• Common Dunbier applications include 45mm, 50mm and 60mm hydraulic disc-brake axle systems
• Requires a compatible proportional in-vehicle brake controller and correctly sized electrical supply
🔌 Function
Receives the brake-controller command, uses stored compressed air to drive the hydraulic master circuit and applies the trailer disc brakes with rapid proportional response.
Common signs of wear or replacement:
• Compressor runs excessively or fails to build pressure
• Brake application is delayed, weak or absent
• Fluid leaks or repeated air enters the hydraulic circuit
• Breakaway warning or controller fault occurs
• Actuator will not release the hydraulic park brake after reconnection
🛠️ Installation & Safety
• Installation and commissioning should be performed by a competent brake/electrical technician
• Use the correct mounting bracket and orientation
• Provide heavy-gauge protected power and earth wiring
• Bleed the hydraulic system using the approved procedure
• Test service braking, park/brake release and breakaway operation before road use
📦 Condition
