Genuine Volvo Penta sealing ring used with the earlier coolant-pump connection pipe 8131290 on selected TAD16 engines. It must not be confused with sealing ring 21423788, which is used with the later pipe 21420336.

Seals the coolant connection pipe to prevent pressure loss and external coolant leakage.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

• Coolant seepage around the connection pipe
• Gradual coolant loss
• Seal flattened, split or heat-hardened
• Leakage caused by fitting the later seal to the earlier pipe

🛠️ Service Notes

• Always fit a new sealing ring rather than reusing the old one — a ring that has been compressed once has taken a set and will not seal reliably a second time
• Clean the groove or seat and check it for scoring, corrosion and old sealant before fitting; a mark across the sealing face will leak however good the ring is
• Ease the ring into place without stretching, twisting or dragging it over sharp edges or threads, and check it is seated squarely all the way round before closing the joint
• Do not add sealant or jointing compound unless the workshop manual for your engine calls for it, and tighten the joint or union to the figure given in that manual
• Check the joint for weeping once the engine has been run up to temperature and allowed to cool, as many sealing rings only show a leak after a heat cycle
