⚠️ Common Signs of Failure
- Oil leakage at a pipe union
- Damaged sealing ring
- Bearing or turbocharger damage caused by pressure loss
🛠️ Service Notes
- Cap or plug both ends and keep the pipe and its unions scrupulously clean until the moment it goes on — a pressure line is no place for grit
- Offer the pipe up unstressed: start both unions by hand and let the pipe find its own line before anything is tightened down
- Never bend, straighten or reshape a pressure pipe to make it fit, and never dress or file a sealing cone; a pipe with a damaged or distorted seat is scrap
- Tighten the unions to the figures and sequence in the workshop manual for your engine, and renew rather than refit any pipe the manual treats as a single-use part
- Refit every clip and support bracket so vibration is not carried on the unions, then run up and check for weeps at working pressure, keeping hands well clear of any high-pressure fuel joint
