🔧 Product Description

Genuine Volvo Penta oil-pump suction pipe used on D9-family engines. It draws engine oil from the sump pickup to oil pump 21736639 and must remain completely airtight to prevent pump cavitation.

🔌 Function

Draws lubricating oil from the sump to the oil-pump inlet without allowing air to enter the pump.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

  • Low or delayed oil pressure after starting

  • Cracked or loose suction pipe
  • Blocked pickup or restricted pipe
  • Damaged seal allowing air entry

🛠️ Service Notes

  • Clean the pipe bore and both joint faces before fitting and clear out any debris — anything left in a suction pipe goes straight into the pump
  • Fit new gaskets, seals or O-rings at every joint; a suction line that draws air will make the pump lose its prime or cavitate rather than simply weep
  • Check the pipe and any strainer or screen end for corrosion, splits, distortion and blockage, and check that the sealing faces are flat
  • Start all fasteners before tightening any so the pipe is not strained into place, then tighten evenly to the figures given in the workshop manual for your engine
  • Refit brackets and supports, then check for leaks and for correct pump flow or pressure once the engine is running
