• Set the elbow so the connection points the way the hose or pipe wants to run, with no strain, kinking or chafing on the line
• Tighten to the figure in the workshop manual for your engine and hold the mating fitting so it cannot turn with it
• Bring the system up to working pressure and temperature, check the joint, then check it again after the first proper run
