🛠️ Service Notes

• Work clean — a valve is a precision component, and dirt or swarf carried in on the sealing faces is the commonest reason a new one fails early
• Fit new sealing rings, gaskets or washers wherever the original used them rather than reusing the old ones, and lubricate them lightly so they seat without rolling or nipping
• Check the seat, bore or housing the valve fits into for corrosion, scoring or distortion; a valve only seals as well as the face it beds on
• Tighten fixings and threaded connections to the figures and in the order given in the workshop manual for your engine — a valve body is easily distorted by overtightening
• After fitting, bleed or refill the system as required, then run the engine and check the valve for leaks and for correct operation before the boat is used
