  • The drive recess rounded out on removal
  • The thread stripped, or the locking coating worn away and no longer gripping

  • Fit a new screw rather than reusing the old one with fresh compound - the coating is applied at manufacture and is spent once the screw has been out
  • Clean the old locking compound out of the female thread before fitting, then tighten to the specified torque
