🔌 Function

Holds the engine's lubricating oil and closes the bottom of the crankcase.

  • Oil dripping from the sump flange, a seam or around the drain plug
  • Casting cracked or holed, usually from grounding or an impact
  • Flange no longer flat, so a new gasket still weeps
  • Drain plug thread pulled or the boss cracked
  • Corrosion around the fixings or the flange face on an aluminium pan in a wet bilge

  • Check where the sump section sits on the engine before ordering: this pan is the front-sump aluminium version, while 20460019 is the central-sump sheet-metal pan
  • Aluminium flanges pull out of shape more easily than steel, so tighten the fixings evenly to the specified sequence and renew the sump joint whenever the pan comes off
