⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

  • Oily film spreading around the breather pipe and its joints
  • Crankcase pressure rising, pushing oil past seals or lifting the dipstick
  • Oil weeping from a joint or a hairline crack in the pipe
  • Pipe cracked at a bend or at a bracket, often where a support has been left loose
  • Bore narrowed by sludge, carbon or, in cold running, ice-forming condensate

🛠️ Service Notes

  • Clean and inspect every connection, renew disturbed seals and ensure the pipe is not forced into alignment
  • Refit all support clamps and verify clearance from heat sources, moving parts and sharp edges
