• Volvo Penta TAD720VE
• Volvo Penta TAD721VE

• Engine Family: TAD
• HP Range: Approximately 300 HP
• Year Range: Approximately late 1990s-2010s, depending on engine and installation

⚙️ Key Features

• 945 mm long
• 0.622 kg
• For the crankcase-ventilation and inlet-manifold assembly
• Listed for 2 applications on TAD series engines
• The longest and heaviest of the breather pipes here, against 0.560 kg for 20498075 and 0.208 kg for 20464428
• L=945mm (Volvo assembly listing)

🔌 Function

Routes crankcase vapour from the ventilation system to the inlet manifold, keeping the crankcase vented over the full length of the run.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

• Oil mist escaping along the breather run
• Oil forced out past seals or the dipstick as crankcase pressure rises
• Oily deposits gathering on the manifold and surrounding surfaces
• Pipe found split, chafed at a support or blocked with sludge on strip-down

🛠️ Service Notes

• At 945 mm this is a long run - check it is properly clipped and clear of hot surfaces, since chafing at a support is the usual failure
• Confirm the pipe is clear before fitting; a blocked breather pushes oil past seals that are otherwise sound
