πŸ”§ Product Description

This genuine Volvo Penta vibration damper is an OEM service component used in the Crankshaft Torsional Vibration Damper. It is manufactured to the original Volvo Penta dimensional, material and interface requirements for the documented Volvo Penta 5-litre TAD5 generator diesel application. Technical identification: Crankshaft torsional vibration damper, 248 x 32 mm. In service, it absorbs crankshaft torsional vibration and protects the crankshaft, gears and accessory drive from damaging resonance. Selection must be confirmed by OEM part number 20546792, the exact model/product number, serial number and installed assembly configuration.

βš™οΈ Key Features

  • Genuine Volvo Penta OEM vibration damper
  • OEM part number 20546792
  • Technical distinction: Crankshaft torsional vibration damper, 248 x 32 mm
  • Inspect the mating shaft/key/spline, install with the correct press or puller method, align belt/gear tracks and verify run-out and fastener torque.

πŸ”Œ Function

Absorbs crankshaft torsional vibration and protects the crankshaft, gears and accessory drive from damaging resonance. Inspect the mating shaft/key/spline, install with the correct press or puller method, align belt/gear tracks and verify run-out and fastener torque.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

  • Abnormal torsional vibration, rattling or cyclic noise
  • Pulley, flywheel or hub run-out and belt-tracking problems
  • Cracking, wear or damage at the hub, spokes or mounting face
  • Loose fasteners, fretting or damaged key/spline interface
  • Accessory-drive, starting or timing problems caused by misalignment

πŸ› οΈ Service Notes

  • Treat the damper as a sealed assembly β€” it is not repairable, and nothing about it should be straightened, re-bonded or adjusted
  • Renew it if the rubber is cracked, swollen, oil-soaked or has moved relative to the hub, and whenever the engine has been run with a known torsional or vibration problem
  • Fit to clean, dry, undamaged mating faces, tightening the fasteners in the sequence and to the figures given in the workshop manual for your engine
  • Use new bolts wherever the manual calls for them; the loading here is cyclic and a reused or stretched fastener is a poor risk
  • While access is good, check the components it drives or couples to, and their alignment β€” a damper rarely fails for no reason

πŸ“¦ Condition

  • Genuine Volvo Penta part
  • Brand new
  • Supplied in original or equivalent packaging
