Service connecting-rod big-end bearing shell for the D5A engine family, sized for a crankshaft journal machined 0.25 mm undersize. It must be installed as the correctly matched bearing set after accurate crankpin measurement. Application note: Use only after the crankpin has been measured and confirmed for the 0.25 mm undersize bearing grade.

🛠️ Service Notes

• Keep the bearing wrapped until you fit it and work clean — dirt trapped in at assembly is a leading cause of early failure
• Inspect the shaft and housing seats for wear, scoring and burrs; a new bearing in a worn seat only repeats the failure
• Press or drive squarely on the race being fitted, using a drift or tube that contacts the ring face fully, so the load never passes through the balls, rollers or bearing surface; never strike the bearing itself
• Lubricate with the grade specified for that assembly, and where the bearing takes an adjustable preload or endfloat, set it by the workshop manual procedure rather than by feel
• Renew the adjacent seal whenever a bearing is replaced — access is already open, and a failed seal is often what killed the bearing
