• Never bend, grind or straighten a leaf spring to make it fit or to alter its tension
• Renew any leaf spring that is cracked, corroded, pitted or has lost its shape, and change paired or matched springs together
• Fit it the same way up and the same way round as the original, seated properly on its locating step, boss or pin, with the original fasteners and washers in order
• Check the surface the spring bears against for wear grooving, and re-check its fasteners after the first period of use since it sits in a working, vibrating position
