🔧 Product Description

Protective cover plate used with the TAD420VE cable, fuse and engine-wiring-harness assembly. It shields connectors and wiring while retaining the original service-access and mounting arrangement.

🔌 Function

Covers and protects the engine wiring and connector group from abrasion, debris, accidental contact and heat exposure.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

  • Missing or damaged protection exposes the harness to abrasion
  • Bent plate contacts or pinches wiring
  • Cracks, corrosion or loose mounting hardware
  • Harness movement causing intermittent electrical faults
  • Oil, water or debris collecting around unprotected connectors

🛠️ Service Notes

  • Clean both faces and remove all of the old gasket or sealant before refitting; a cover plate only seals if it sits flat on a clean face
  • Check the plate for distortion around the fixing holes and renew it if the flange has been pulled out of shape
  • Fit a new gasket, seal or O-ring rather than reusing the old one, and use sealant only where the manual for your engine calls for it
  • Tighten evenly and progressively to the figures in the workshop manual — these covers are thin and easily bowed by pulling one fixing up first
  • Check for weeps once the engine has been run up to temperature and allowed to cool
