• Make sure the oil feed holes and any drilling through the arm are clear and flushed, and prime the contact faces with clean engine oil before assembly
• Confirm the pushrods are seated in their cups and the valve gear is correctly located before pulling the rocker shaft or pedestals down, then tighten evenly in the sequence and to the figures in the manual for your engine
• Set the valve clearances with the engine at the crank position the manual specifies for that cylinder, and recheck them once the pedestal bolts are fully torqued
• Turn the engine over by hand through a complete cycle to confirm nothing binds, and recheck the clearances after the first period of running if the manual requires it
