🔌 Function

Clamps the flywheel housing and rear-engine covers to the block through the deeper positions, holding the joint at its designed load.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

  • Oil weeping from the covered joint as clamp load is lost
  • Screw found loose or backed off on inspection
  • Head recess rounded out so a socket no longer grips
  • Thread stretched or galled when the screw is withdrawn
  • Shank found bent or scored where it passes through a long bore
