• Hard starting, hunting or a stall under load as air is drawn in past the seal
• Loss of prime after a filter change
• Cover found cracked or distorted, so it no longer pulls down square
• Sealing groove damaged, or the O-ring flattened and nibbled

• Clean the housing face and check the groove before refitting, and prime and bleed the fuel system afterwards
