🔌 Function

Takes the belt drive from the engine and turns the alternator rotor at the ratio set by its groove diameter.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

  • Belt squeal or a chirp that follows engine speed
  • Black belt dust collecting around the drive
  • Low or intermittent charging
  • Groove found polished, worn or with the ribs rounded off
  • A visible wobble or run-out as the alternator shaft is turned, or bearing noise from the alternator behind it

🛠️ Service Notes

  • This is the later-production version and replaces both 20798204 and 20798216, so order against the current number
  • Renew the belt at the same time - a worn pulley groove chews a new belt quickly
  • Check the alternator shaft and its nut for run-out before condemning the pulley
