🔌 Function

• A light slap or rattle at idle that eases as the engine warms and grows heavier under load
• A knock that rises and falls with engine speed rather than with load alone
• Pin surface found scored, polished flat or blued from heat
• Piston pin bores or the small-end bush found worn oval
• Circlip grooves damaged, or a circlip found displaced

🛠️ Service Notes

• Renew the pin, small-end bush and circlips together and measure both bores rather than judging wear by eye
• Pin and bore clearances are what decide whether anything can be reused - check them against the workshop manual figures before refitting old parts
