🔌 Function

Draws oil from the bottom of the sump through its strainer and feeds it to the lubricating-oil pump inlet.

• Low or fluctuating oil pressure, worst at hot idle
• Oil pressure warning flickering on a turn or when trimmed
• A whine or rattle from the pump as it pulls air instead of oil
• Strainer found blanketed with sludge and carbon
• Pipe cracked at a bracket, or the joint to the pump weeping so it draws air

🛠️ Service Notes

• Clean the sump out before fitting, or the new strainer blocks the same way the old one did
• Renew the O-ring or gasket at the pump joint - an air leak on the suction side reads as low pressure rather than showing as a drip
• It supersedes strainer 888869, so the strainer is no longer a separate item
