🔌 Function

Drives the ribbed accessory belt from the crankshaft nose and, through its integral damper, absorbs the crankshaft's torsional vibration.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

• Belt squeal, thrown or shredded belts
• A visible wobble at the crankshaft nose with the engine idling
• The damper's rubber ring found bulged, cracked or crept out of line with its timing marks
• Ribs found worn shiny with the profile rounded off
• Bolt holes elongated, or the crankshaft nose found fretted

🛠️ Service Notes

• The damper is integral, so a failed damper means renewing the whole pulley - it cannot be repaired or re-rubbered
• At 19.504 kg it needs supporting as it comes off the crankshaft nose; do not let it hang on the bolts
• Renew the ribbed belt and check the crankshaft nose and pulley bolts when refitting
