🛠️ Service Notes
- Have a container and absorbent to hand and catch what the filter holds, so nothing goes into the bilge
- Wipe the filter head clean, make sure the old sealing ring has come away with the old filter, and lightly oil the new filter's seal before fitting
- Screw the filter on until the seal meets the face, then tighten by hand only, to the amount given for your engine; an over-tightened filter distorts the seal and is a fight to remove next time
- Never fit a filter that has been dropped or dented, and keep the sealing face and threads free of grit
- Start the engine, watch for oil pressure to come up, then check round the filter for leaks and re-check the oil level once it has drained back
