🔧 Product Description
A genuine Volvo Penta rigid charge-air pipe used in the early TAD732GE/TAD733GE radiator/intercooler cooling package. The pipe carries compressed air between the turbocharger, intercooler and inlet tract through the engine-specific routing shown in the early cooling-system arrangement. Its bead, sealing-end geometry and mounting points are designed for the original clamps, O-rings and support hardware.
🚤 Compatibility
Typically suits:
- Volvo Penta TAD732GE EDC4
- Volvo Penta TAD733GE EDC4
- Engine Family: TAD
⚙️ Key Features
- Rigid boost-air pipe for the early TAD732GE/TAD733GE cooling package
- Correct diameter and smooth bore preserve charge-air flow
- Formed routing aligns with the original intercooler and inlet connections
- Beaded or machined ends retain the specified seals and clamps
- Must be checked for the early serial-range cooling-package configuration
- Engine type: D7-series turbocharged generator diesel with air-to-air intercooler
🔌 Function
Transfers compressed intake air through the intercooler circuit with minimal pressure loss, preserving boost pressure and reducing charge temperature before the air enters the engine.
⚠️ Common Signs of Failure
- Oil mist or soot staining around a charge-air joint
- Boost leak and reduced engine power
- Black exhaust smoke under load
- Cracked pipe or damaged sealing bead
- Whistling or hissing during boost
🛠️ Service Notes
- Clean both sealing faces before assembly and check the rubber sleeves, seals and clamps; hardened, swollen or split sleeve rubber will not hold boost on a new pipe
- Seat the pipe fully onto its spigots and set each clamp behind the bead before tightening, so pressure cannot push the joint apart
- Align and support the pipe on its brackets so it is not pulled into tension — a pipe held under strain chafes, cracks and works its clamps loose
- Check the bore for oil sludge and soot before fitting and clean it out; carried-over oil softens sleeve rubber and blackens a new pipe from the inside
- Tighten clamps and any flange fasteners to the figures in the workshop manual for your engine, then re-check them after the first run under load
