🔧 Product Description

A genuine Volvo Penta 220-240 volt, 1500 watt coolant engine heater for TAD13 industrial engines. Installed in the engine coolant circuit, the heater warms the block and coolant before starting, improving cold-start reliability and reducing white smoke, battery load and initial engine wear. The heater is used in compressor-equipped installations with model-specific coolant pipes and electrical extension cables.

Converts mains electrical power into heat within the coolant circuit, warming the engine block before starting.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

  • Heater draws no current or remains cold when energised
  • Earth-leakage protection trips
  • Coolant leakage at the heater or pipe seals
  • Damaged supply cable or overheated connector
  • Poor cold-start performance because coolant circulation through the heater is blocked

🛠️ Service Notes

  • The cooling system must be filled and properly vented before the heater is switched on — energising the element in a dry or air-locked jacket will burn it out
  • Isolate the shore supply and let the engine cool before removing or fitting a heater, and drain enough coolant to work below the heater opening
  • Renew the sealing ring or gasket at the opening and tighten to the figure in the workshop manual for your engine
  • Inspect the element for scale and the housing for corrosion; a heavily scaled element runs hot and will fail again
  • Have the electrical connection made off correctly and protected, fed from a properly earthed and protected shore supply, and check the cable and connector for damage each season
