🔌 Function

The panel sends steering-system commands and control inputs through the EVC network.

🛠️ Service Notes

• Isolate the batteries before disconnecting or fitting a panel, and check the connectors and pins are clean, dry and undamaged, pushing each one fully home until its lock latches — a partly seated connector gives intermittent faults that look exactly like a failed panel
• Seal the panel into its aperture properly and dress the harness so water runs away from the back of the panel rather than tracking along the cables into it
• Do not splice or bodge damaged harness wiring behind a new panel; repair it to the method Volvo Penta specifies for that harness or renew the affected section
• On electronically controlled installations a replacement panel may need to be recognised or configured with Volvo Penta diagnostic equipment before the system will work correctly — check what your engine's system requires before you finish the job
• With everything reconnected, run through all the panel's functions, lamps, alarms and any lamp-test position and confirm the readings agree with the engine before handing the boat back
