🔧 Product Description

Genuine Volvo Penta radiator protector used around the fan and cooling package on specified D16 marine generating-set and TAD16 industrial installations. It supersedes earlier protector 3829123 and provides the required guard geometry and airflow clearance around the rotating fan.

🚤 Compatibility

Typically suits:

  • Volvo Penta D16C-A MG
  • Volvo Penta TAD1640GE
  • Volvo Penta TAD1641GE
  • Volvo Penta TAD1642GE
  • Volvo Penta TAD1641VE
  • Volvo Penta TAD1642VE
  • Volvo Penta TAD1643VE
  • Volvo Penta TAD1650GE
  • Volvo Penta TAD1651GE
  • Volvo Penta TAD1650VE
  • Volvo Penta TAD1660-62VE
  • Volvo Penta TAD1662VE EU5
  • Engine Family: D, TAD
  • HP Range: Approximately 600-770 HP

⚙️ Key Features

  • Genuine Volvo Penta D16 radiator / fan protector
  • Supersedes earlier protector 3829123
  • Protects personnel and nearby components from the rotating cooling fan
  • Maintains factory airflow opening and fan-tip clearance
  • Cooling-package and engine serial number control fitment
  • Engine type: Volvo Penta 16.1-litre inline-six marine generating-set / industrial diesel

🔌 Function

Forms a protective barrier around the cooling fan while allowing the designed airflow through the radiator and charge-air cooler.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

  • Cracked, bent or missing guard sections
  • Fan contact caused by distortion or loose mountings
  • Broken mounting tabs or repeated fastener loosening
  • Restricted airflow from debris or an incorrectly fitted guard
  • Unsafe access to the rotating fan

🛠️ Service Notes

  • Supersedes the earlier protector 3829123 - if a D16/TAD16 parts list still shows the old number, this is the current direct fit
  • At 9.5 kg this is sized for the full D16/TAD16 fan and radiator package - noticeably heavier than the 4 kg class of protector used on the smaller TAD5/7 gensets, so support it properly when releasing the last fastener
