🔌 Function

Transfers diesel exhaust fluid between the tank, pump or dosing-system components without contamination or leakage.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

  • White DEF crystals at a fitting
  • Dosing-system pressure or flow fault
  • Hose cracking or chafing
  • Connector not locking securely
  • SCR warning or engine derate

🛠️ Service Notes

  • Fit hoses only to clean, sound spigots — take off old rubber, scale and corrosion, and renew the spigot or pipe if it is pitted, because no clamp will seal a rough sealing face
  • Push the hose fully home so the clamp sits behind the bead or barb rather than over the end of the spigot, and fit new clamps whenever a hose is renewed
  • Let the hose follow its natural bend with no kinks and no tension on either connection, clear of hot surfaces and moving parts, with chafe protection wherever it passes a bracket, edge or bulkhead
  • Use the correct grade of hose for the duty, and clamp to the standard the installation demands — twin clamps are normal practice on seawater and fuel connections below the waterline
  • Refill, vent and run the engine, then check every joint hot and cold and recheck the clamps after the first running period as the hose beds down
