The pump circulates engine coolant through the block, cylinder head and heat exchanger to control operating temperature.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

• Coolant leakage from the pump
• Bearing noise
• Reduced coolant circulation

• Corroded or damaged impeller

🛠️ Service Notes

• Drain coolant to below the pump, and note the belt routing and hose positions before the old pump comes off
• Clean the mounting face back to bare metal without scoring it, and fit new gaskets or O-rings — a pump will not seal onto old gasket remains
• Turn the new pump by hand before fitting to confirm it runs smooth and free, and handle it by the housing rather than by the impeller or shaft
• Tighten the mounting bolts evenly to the figure in the workshop manual, then set belt tension by the procedure for your engine; an overtensioned belt is the usual reason a pump has a short life
• Refill and vent the cooling system, run the engine to temperature, and check for coolant at the weep hole and around the mounting face
