21192358 Glow Plug | Genuine Volvo Penta Part

🔧 Product Description

Genuine pre-heating glow plug used across Volvo Penta D1-13, D1-20, D1-30 and D2-40 marine diesel engines. Part number 21192358 replaces earlier Volvo Penta glow plug 3809641 and has several documented manufacturer equivalents.

🚤 Compatibility

Typically suits:

• Volvo Penta D2-40F
• Volvo Penta D1-30F
• Volvo Penta D1-13F
• Volvo Penta D1-20F

• Engine Family: D
• HP Range: 13-40 HP

⚙️ Key Features

• Current replacement for glow plug 3809641
• 11V rated element for a 12V pre-heat system
• Approximately 7.3A current draw
• M8x1 mounting thread and approximately 69 mm overall length
• Verified NGK, HKT, Cargo, Kubota and Nanni equivalents
• 3 used per assembly

🔌 Function

The glow plug heats the combustion chamber before and during cold starting to improve diesel ignition.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

• Hard cold starting
• White smoke after start-up
• Uneven running when cold
• Glow-plug warning or pre-heat fault
• Open-circuit element
• Excessive current draw or short circuit
• Burnt or damaged terminal

🛠️ Service Notes

• Confirm the M8x1 thread and roughly 69 mm overall length against the plug removed before fitting this one, since D1/D2 heads have used more than one glow-plug thread over the years
• This engine runs 3 glow plugs — test all three (and the preheat relay/circuit) rather than replacing a single suspect plug on its own
• If the genuine plug isn't available, NGK, HKT, Cargo, Kubota and Nanni equivalents are documented for this application — check the 11V/7.3A rating matches before substituting
