Genuine Volvo Penta sacrificial anode used in the tall exhaust and exhaust-elbow service-kit assemblies. The anode protects the water-jacketed exhaust elbow from galvanic corrosion and must be matched to the exact elbow because visually similar Volvo Penta anodes use different threads and dimensions.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

• Anode material consumed beyond the service limit
• Uneven wastage, deep pitting or complete loss of the element
• Corrosion appearing on the protected exhaust component
• Loose plug, damaged threads or leakage at the seal
• Little or no anode consumption caused by poor electrical contact

🛠️ Service Notes

• Clean the anode's seat back to bare, sound metal — no paint, antifouling, oil, sealant or corrosion product — because the anode only works if it is in good electrical contact with what it is protecting
• Never paint or antifoul the anode itself, or the area it sits on; do make good the surrounding factory coating so the anode is not being asked to protect bare metal it was never sized for
• Fit with clean fasteners and check the fasteners themselves make good contact; fit the anode dry against its seat rather than bedding it on sealant
• Inspect anodes at every lift or service and renew them once roughly half the anode has wasted away — a heavily consumed anode has too little metal left to give useful protection
• If anodes are disappearing much faster than usual, or barely wasting at all, investigate the installation's bonding and shore power earthing rather than just fitting more anodes
