🛠️ Service Notes

• Fit a dry element straight from its packaging and check it seats squarely so the seal contacts all the way round — the commonest cause of dirt reaching the engine is air bypassing a filter that is not sealed, not a filter that is full
• Do not wash a paper element or blow it through with compressed air to extend its life; the medium is damaged by both and it will pass dirt afterwards
• Wipe out the housing and inlet duct with a damp cloth before fitting, taking care not to knock loose dirt down towards the inlet
• Check the ducting, joints and clamps between the filter and the inlet for splits and looseness, and make sure any restriction indicator or gauge is reset and working
• Never run the engine without the element in place, and change it at the interval given in the workshop manual for your engine or sooner if the engine space is dusty
