🔌 Function

The module interprets engine sensor signals and controls fuel injection, ignition timing, idle, protection and onboard diagnostics.

🛠️ Service Notes

• Isolate the batteries before unplugging or fitting any module, and never disconnect one with the ignition on or the engine running
• Before condemning a module, check its supply, its earth and the harness continuity; a poor earth or a chafed lead gives exactly the same symptoms as a dead unit
• Handle the module by its casing, keep the connector pins clean and dry, and push connectors home squarely until the lock engages — bent or corroded pins cause more trouble than the modules themselves
• Mount it in the original position and orientation using the original brackets or clips, so it stays clear of heat, moving parts and standing water
• Many engine and control modules have to be configured or programmed to your particular engine before they will work correctly, so allow for a Volvo Penta dealer with the correct diagnostic equipment where that applies
