The shutter closes the engine air intake when commanded, helping stop the engine during an emergency or overspeed event.

🛠️ Service Notes

• Fit the shutter with the air path clean and clear, and check the flap swings freely and closes fully by hand before the system is armed
• Renew the seal and gasket at the inlet joint; a shutter that does not seal properly will not stop a runaway engine, which is the whole point of it
• Set up the cable, linkage or trip so it operates cleanly from the operating position with no slack or binding, and make sure it can be reset afterwards
• Make sure nothing can be drawn through or past the housing — loose gasket material downstream of the shutter goes straight into the engine
• Test the shutdown function as the manual for your engine directs, and test it again whenever the inlet system is disturbed
