🔌 Function

The switch senses temperature and opens or closes the relay-control circuit so the engine heater operates only when required.

🛠️ Service Notes

  • Isolate the batteries before disconnecting anything, and label the leads as they come off so they go back on the correct terminals
  • Check the replacement matches the original for contact rating and action; a switch that cannot carry the load will burn its contacts
  • Clean the terminals, make the connections tight and dry, and support the loom so it is not left hanging on the switch body
  • Refit the seal, boot or gland that came with the switch — water getting in behind a switch is the usual reason they fail afloat
  • Work the switch through its full travel and confirm the circuit behaves correctly, including any interlock or alarm function, before the engine goes back into service
