Genuine Volvo Penta pressed or cast engine oil sump for D1-13F marine diesels. It forms the lower crankcase reservoir, collects returning engine oil and provides the mounting surface for the drain, pickup and sealing gasket.

🔌 Function

Stores the engine oil supply and collects oil returning from the bearings, cylinder head and crankcase.

• Oil leakage from corrosion, cracking or a distorted flange
• Impact damage reducing crankshaft or pickup clearance

• Damaged drain threads
• Low oil pressure caused by pickup interference or oil loss

🛠️ Service Notes

• Drain the oil warm and completely, and make sure the engine is properly supported before anything holding the sump is disturbed
• Clean both flange faces without scoring them and without dropping debris inside, removing every trace of old gasket or sealant
• Use the gasket or sealing compound the workshop manual for your engine specifies, applied dry where it says dry, and locate the sump correctly against its end faces before pulling anything down
• Tighten progressively from the centre outwards in stages to the manual figures; a sump flange is easy to pull out of shape and then it leaks for good
• Fit a new drain plug seal, refill with the correct grade to the correct level, then run and check for leaks and for oil pressure coming up as it should
