🔌 Function

The valve opens, closes or redirects the assigned fluid when commanded by the control system.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

  • Valve stuck open or closed
  • Coil open or short circuit
  • Intermittent operation when hot

🛠️ Service Notes

  • Note the flow direction and the port connections before removal, and fit the new valve the same way round
  • Clean the pipework and mating faces and renew the seals or gaskets; grit on the seat is a common cause of a valve that will not close fully
  • Make the electrical connection off dry and properly latched, with the connector protected against damp and the loom supported clear of hot and moving parts
  • Check the supply voltage is correct for the valve before energising it, and do not leave a valve energised for long periods with no flow through it
  • Function test the valve and leak check the joints before closing the installation up
