🛠️ Service Notes
- Establish why the old pump failed before the new one goes on — debris, a blocked strainer, a starved supply or a dry run will take out the replacement just as quickly
- Fit new gaskets, O-rings and seals on the pump's joint faces and drive, with the faces clean, and use only the sealant the workshop manual for your engine specifies
- Check the drive and the shaft it runs on — coupling, gear, key, belt or drive dog — while access is good, and renew anything doubtful
- Prime or fill the pump as the manual for your engine directs, bleed the system afterwards, and confirm it is actually delivering before the boat leaves
- Tighten mounting and cover fasteners evenly to the manual's figures; pump housings distort easily, and a distorted housing either leaks or binds
