🛠️ Service Notes

  • Fit lifting eyes only to the mounting points the workshop manual for your engine nominates, using the correct grade of bolt tightened to the figure the manual gives, with the thread fully engaged in sound metal
  • Use all the eyes the lifting arrangement calls for at once and rig so the pull is vertical; a sling angle that drags sideways on an eye loads it in a direction it was never designed for
  • Check that nothing fouls the slings, take the strain gradually, and stop to check the rig again before the engine lifts clear
  • Inspect before every lift and reject any eye that is cracked, bent, worn thin where the sling bears, or has an elongated hole — a lifting eye is a safety component and is not repairable
  • Lift only what the eyes are rated for: engine lifting eyes are not intended for the engine complete with gearbox, drive or ancillaries unless the manual for your engine says they are
